John Barrett Salon’s digital transformation unified luxury branding, online booking, and retail into one seamless client experience.

Challenge

John Barrett was a household name in celebrity styling, known for premium hair and beauty services like the iconic Barrett’s Braids. But the salon’s digital presence lagged far behind its reputation. The website lacked online booking, offered no e-commerce capabilities, and didn’t reflect the start-to-finish luxury experience clients expected. As the business expanded beyond its Midtown flagship, it needed a modern platform that showcased its artistry, supported multiple locations and stylists, and extended its high-end retail offerings online.

Action

We reimagined the brand’s digital experience to match its in-salon prestige. Our work included art-directing custom photography, designing a site that visually communicated luxury, and building an integrated platform for booking by location and stylist. The site also introduced an e-commerce component, allowing clients to purchase salon products, curated lifestyle items, and even jewelry and art from anywhere. We extended this digital experience in-store with lounge tablets that offered an editorial-style browsing experience for products and featured local artisans. The platform elevated the salon’s entire team—beyond John Barrett himself—by giving stylists individual profiles and showcasing their specialties, reflecting the personalized nature of their client relationships.

Result

The project unified the salon’s physical and digital presence for the first time. Clients could seamlessly explore services, book appointments, and shop products online or in-store, while the brand gained a scalable system to support expansion to new locations. The refreshed design reinforced John Barrett’s position as a luxury destination and modernized its operations, setting the stage for continued growth and deeper client engagement.
