Escapod defined a new category with a compact, design-driven off-road trailer built for maximum utility with a minimalist approach.
Challenge
The RV industry had been stagnant for decades. Products were oversized, outdated, and lacked meaningful design. A new generation of outdoor users with higher standards were left with two bad options: compromise with clunky RVs or go without. The market had no compact, durable, design-forward option that maximized function without sacrificing aesthetics. This gap became even more visible during COVID, when demand for outdoor travel surged but existing solutions failed to inspire or deliver.
Action
We built Escapod to redefine what a camper could be. The original TOPO set the foundation, but with the TOPO2 we pushed the industry forward. We engineered a single-piece structural fiberglass body, galvanized steel frame, and patented suspension system built to last for generations. At the same time, we treated design as a core differentiator. Every surface, curve, and system was considered for utility but also for covetability. Escapod was as beautiful as it was durable, proving that minimalist design and maximalist function could coexist. Beyond the product, we rebuilt the sales model: a direct-to-consumer platform where customers could learn, customize, finance, and purchase online with full transparency. The work combined engineering, industrial design, digital product design, and brand-building into a unified system.
Result
Escapod established a new category. We sold $750K in preorders before production, grew to $10M in annual recurring revenue, and shipped hundreds of units nationwide. We secured patents for both structural and suspension innovation, won international recognition with Red Dot, iF, and Design Master Prize awards, and built a brand that stood apart in a market defined by sameness. The launch of the MTB model amplified this position, generating global press coverage and millions of views across 100+ publications. Over eight years, Escapod went from a concept to an industry-recognized leader, proving that design, durability, and utility can drive lasting impact in a stagnant category.
